Jersey what?

Hilarious Jersey etiquette post at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Empty Netters blog.

Speaking of Pittsburgh, Fleury is back in net Thursday, Dec 18 vs ATL and the Penguins have one of the sweetest schedules from then until Feb 8.

Vote here for the new Hockey Night in Canada theme song. It's too bad we lost the original one to TSN.

Let the Brouhaha Begin

This blog will be about NHL hockey. In particular, The Sporting News' Ultimate Fantasy Hockey. I guess it's referred to as a salary cap hockey pool. You manage a team of twelve players: 2 goalies, 3 centers, 4 wingers,3 defencemen, and you get 5 trades per week. The cost of players goes up and down depending on how many managers are buying and selling them, analogous to the stock market. The point of the game is two fold: get lots of points from your players and make money in the process. In order to do this, you wanna buy players who play a lot of games and you wanna buy when they are cheap and sell when they are expensive. Better players will generally cost more so the faster you make money, the earlier you can field a star studded team.

The name of the blog was inspired by Don Taylor of Sportsnet Pacific who says: "Some advice to young broadcasters; anytime you get a chance to use the word brouhaha, you take it!" My wife and I refer to him as Chunky Chunkerson from back in the day when the highlight of the night was brought to you by Campbell's Chunky Soup.
